What Happens After You Get in Touch
1. A provisional figure. From your photos and a short description, you get an idea of cost without anyone needing to visit. That is usually enough to decide whether to go ahead.
2. A free written quote. Before any work is booked, you get the job and the price in writing, including what happens to the wood and whether the stump is being ground out.
3. Permissions, if needed. If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or stands in a conservation area, we make the application or notice to the council for you, free of charge. Conservation area notices take six weeks, so it is worth starting early.
4. The work, and the clear-up. Brash is chipped on site as the job goes. Chips can be left for your borders and paths or taken away, and larger wood cut into logs.
Opening Hours and Emergencies
Open 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. Emergency call-outs run within those hours, so call to check how soon someone can attend.
If a tree has come down outside our hours, keep everyone well clear of it. Branches under tension can spring back and hanging limbs drop without warning.
- Power lines involved: stay at least 10 metres away, assume the lines are live and call 105.
- Danger to life, or a blocked road: call 999.
- Smell of gas after damage to a building: leave the property and call 0800 111 999.
Then send photos, and call us from 8am. See our emergency tree service for what to do first.

Before You Get in Touch
A few things worth knowing.
What should I include in the photos?
One photo of the whole tree from a distance, one closer up of anything that looks wrong, one showing what is underneath or beside it, and one of the route from the road to the tree. A rough height and the address are enough to price most jobs provisionally.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Written quotes are free, and so is making any application to the council if a tree turns out to be protected. Photos are usually enough for a provisional figure, with a site visit only where the job needs measuring up properly.
How quickly will I hear back?
Messages sent through the form are picked up during our opening hours, 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. If something needs dealing with urgently, calling is faster than sending a message, particularly outside normal working hours.
Do you take emergency calls?
Emergency call-outs run between 8am and 6pm, seven days a week, so call to check availability. Outside those hours, keep everyone well clear of the tree, call 105 if power lines are involved or 999 if there is danger to life, and call us from 8am.
Which areas do you cover?
Colchester and north Essex, including Stanway, Wivenhoe, West Mersea, Tiptree, Coggeshall, Witham, Brightlingsea, Manningtree, Frinton and Clacton-on-Sea. If you are on the edge of that, send the postcode and we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.
