The Avenues and Their Gardens
Frinton's Avenues were laid out with large Edwardian and interwar houses on generous plots, and those gardens were planted to match. Holm oak, pine, hawthorn, tamarisk and sycamore all handle salt wind far better than most ornamentals. They still grow away from the wind and look one-sided, but they keep their foliage and recover from a hard winter rather than dying back.
